We do very thorough preparation work prior to waxing and use pain control methods and anesthetics to lessen any discomfort. Many people find our methods relaxing and almost sleep through it.
Hair must be at least 1/4” long. Trim all hair before coming to appointment., no longer than
a 1/2” length. This avoids bruising and reduces discomfort. If we need to do the clipping, there will be an extra charge. If concerned about reactions/discomfort, take an antihistamine 1/2 hr before to avoid/reduce reactions. Tums help reduce acidity in the skin. Tylenol may also be taken.
Hair grows in three stages - growing, resting, & dying. It takes 5-7 waxings to regulate this growth cycle, so you may experience light re-growth soon after your first waxings. Waxing year round reduces this and regulates the cycles.
Broken Hairs may occur on people with dry skin as when trying to pull weeds out of dry ground. Use a water based moisturizer regularly to avoid this and a pH balanced body wash. Soap is drying.
Ingrown Hairs are often caused by a soap buildup on the skin and/or an oil based cream being applied. To avoid this please use a water based moisturizer such as our Tea Tree Hand & Body Lotion and one of our special pH balanced body washes. Ingrown hairs are a problem to very few people, however no one can know if they are prone prior to having it done. If they do occur, do not pick. Apply Tend Skin Lotion and/or Tea Tree Oil to the area. Do not wax if you use steriods, Retin A, Retinols, AHA’s, Accutane or other medications which may affect the integrity of the skin. Reactions are rare, but can occur even after years of using the same product.
